He contributed to The Dean Martin Show, The Carol Burnett Show, The Smothers Brothers Show, The Bob Newhart Show and others. In the 1970s and 1980s he was a writer and editor for numerous episodes of The Love Boat and Head of the Class, among other series, and co-wrote lyrics for I Remember Mama in 1979. His songs have been recorded by Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Durante, Peggy Lee, John Pizzarelli, Karen Akers and, Michael Feinstein. This song was one of the best performances on this show, but due to the LGBTQ movement in the U.S., this amazing performer was kicked out and was not given any more performances on television. Now, he is dead. What a terrible waste and what an un-American thing to reject humor and silence people who have different perspectives about certain issues. He was an 84 year-old legend with numerous awards given to him for original songs. He was someone who contributed to the Dean Martin Show for crying out loud, but he was silenced for daring to make a joke in a great song. What a shame!

the lights, the presentation and the scenographic effect are worthy of an Oscar, but the interpretation is heartless. Technically it is perfect but it lacks emotion which is the characteristic that makes this song unique.

I was watching an episode of "The Love Boat" from 1977. In the opening credits I saw the name Ray Jessel as the writer for one of the stories - yes, one and the same. This very witty gent was a screenwriter for many years
